Line 1 Yonge–University

Line 1 Yonge-University is the backbone of the TTC subway, a long U-shaped route that runs south from Finch down Yonge Street through downtown, then curves west and north again up University Avenue and Spadina to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, the only TTC station outside Toronto proper. At 38 stations it's by far the largest line, threading through North York, the financial core, the Annex, and the northern extension into York Region in one continuous run. Trains come every 3 to 5 minutes depending on the time of day, among the most frequent service anywhere in the network, reflecting how much daily commuting funnels through this single corridor. Reroute's incident index, built from years of TTC delay logs, shows Line 1 running noticeably above the system-wide baseline for delay-related incidents, worth factoring in when timing matters, though frequency this high means a missed train rarely costs much.
