Finch West is where Line 1 meets Line 6, the newer Finch West light rail line that runs out toward York University and the Humber College area. It sits between Downsview Park and York University on Line 1, in the northwest part of the city, and the interchange gives riders in that corridor a subway connection they didn't have before Line 6 opened. The surrounding area is a mix of residential mid-rises and institutional buildings, without much commercial density right at the station itself. For a rider heading toward the university corridor, that Line 1 to Line 6 combination now reads as one continuous route rather than two separate systems that happen to share a platform.

Delay risk
Line 1 Yonge–University's incident rate runs about 1.4× the GTA-wide baseline, built from public TTC delay history — a comparison of incident rates, not the odds your specific trip is delayed.
Reroute's incident index is built from the public TTC delay log; Line 6 Finch West doesn't have enough logged history for a fair comparison.
