York University station sits on the university's own Keele campus, between Finch West and Pioneer Village on Line 1, built directly into the extension that carried the subway north into Vaughan. Before the extension, students relied on a long, often crowded bus ride to reach the nearest subway stop, so the station's arrival significantly cut travel times for the tens of thousands of students and staff who move through campus daily. It sits close to the main academic buildings and student residences, making it one of the more predictably busy stops outside the downtown core, especially around the start and end of class blocks. Reroute plans trips to and from campus through here, weighing it against the walk length depending on which part of York's sprawling campus is the actual destination.
