Whitby station serves the town of Whitby in Durham Region, on GO Transit's Lakeshore East line between Ajax and Durham College Oshawa, one stop short of the corridor's eastern terminus. It's one of the main rail links for Durham Region residents commuting into downtown Toronto, alongside Ajax and Oshawa. The station is wheelchair accessible. The ride from Whitby into Union Station covers a fair distance, this is well out toward the eastern end of the Lakeshore East corridor, so trip times run longer than for stops closer to the city. From here, trains run west through Ajax, Pickering, and Scarborough toward Union, or continue the short distance east to Durham College Oshawa, the line's final stop.
