Old Elm is the northeastern terminus of GO Transit's Stouffville line, the last stop after Stouffville itself as the corridor runs out from Union Station through Scarborough and into York Region. Despite being the end of the line, Old Elm keeps a fuller schedule than some of GO's other outer termini, weekday service starts just after 5 a.m. and runs past midnight, and weekend trains begin around 7 a.m. and also run late. That's because the Stouffville line, unlike Milton or Richmond Hill, operates seven days a week rather than weekdays only. Being the terminus, every train through Old Elm is either just starting its run toward Union or finishing one, which usually means a better chance of finding a seat than at stops further down the line.
