Barrie South sits near the northern end of the Barrie line, between Bradford and the Allandale Waterfront terminus, serving the southern edge of Barrie itself. Weekday trains start at 5:21 a.m. and run past midnight into the next day; weekend service begins later, around 7:09 a.m., with a similar late finish. Being this close to the end of the line, Barrie South is often the last practical boarding point before Allandale Waterfront for anyone commuting from Barrie's outskirts. Reroute plans the trip from here the same way it does for any GO stop, weighing the train against driving the whole way down Highway 400, so the comparison rests on actual conditions rather than an assumption that rail always wins.
