Newmarket station sits in the town of Newmarket, on GO Transit's Barrie line between Aurora and East Gwillimbury. Newmarket is one of the larger urban centres in York Region, and this station is the main rail link between the town and downtown Toronto. The station is wheelchair accessible. Barrie line trains run from Union Station north through Vaughan, Aurora, and Newmarket before continuing on to Bradford and eventually Barrie itself, so a trip from Newmarket into the city covers a fair distance no matter which direction it starts from. At Union, the line connects to every other GO corridor, the TTC subway, and UP Express, which matters for Newmarket commuters since most of them are heading somewhere in the city beyond Union itself.
