Yorkdale station sits beneath the Allen Road near Highway 401, between Lawrence West and Wilson on Line 1, with a direct indoor connection to Yorkdale Shopping Centre, one of the largest and highest-grossing malls in the country. That connection makes it one of the more heavily used stops outside the downtown core, especially on weekends, as shoppers arrive by subway instead of fighting for parking at the mall itself. The station also serves as a bus terminal for routes crossing this part of North York, since the 401 and the Allen Road both cut through the area and make walking connections difficult. Reroute treats Yorkdale as a natural stop for mall trips, and factors the indoor connection in when weather makes the walk from a nearby stop less appealing.
