Wellesley station sits at Yonge Street and Wellesley Street, between Bloor-Yonge and College on Line 1, a block from the heart of the Church-Wellesley Village, Toronto's historic LGBTQ+ neighbourhood, which spreads east along Church Street from here. It's a busy stop by midtown standards, drawing residents of the surrounding high-rise apartments as well as anyone headed to the shops, bars, and community spaces that define the Village. The station itself is a fairly typical mid-century build, plain and functional, with none of the visual flourishes of some later additions to the network. Reroute plans through Wellesley as part of the Yonge corridor, a natural stop for trips ending in the Village or the surrounding midtown residential blocks nearby.
