Union station sits at Front Street and Bay Street, between King and St Andrew on the southern loop of Line 1, and it's the single busiest interchange point in the whole system, connecting the subway to GO Transit's regional rail network, UP Express to the airport, and VIA Rail's intercity trains, all under one roof. The scale of the connections here means Union sees a different kind of traffic than most subway stops, less neighbourhood commuting and more people arriving from well outside Toronto and continuing their trip on foot or by subway. The historic Great Hall above the platforms, with its vaulted ceiling and stone columns, is one of the city's grander public spaces, built for an era when train travel meant something more formal than it does today. Reroute routes through Union whenever a trip needs to bridge TTC, GO, or UP Express.
