St George is one of the busiest interchanges on the network, where Line 1 and Line 2 cross at St George Street and Bloor Street West, right in the heart of the University of Toronto's downtown campus. Two side-by-side island platforms make the transfer here quick, a short walk across rather than a long connecting corridor, which is part of why it handles so much traffic even outside rush hour. The surrounding blocks are dense with lecture halls, libraries, and student housing, so the station draws a steady flow of students and staff on top of the riders simply passing through to switch lines. Reroute often prefers St George over Spadina or Bloor-Yonge for a Line 1 to Line 2 transfer, since the walk between platforms tends to be the shortest of the three.
