Royal York station sits at Royal York Road and Bloor Street West, between Islington and Old Mill on Line 2, marking the start of the Bloor-Danforth line's run through Etobicoke's older, leafier neighbourhoods along the Humber River. It's a busier stop than its immediate surroundings might suggest, since Royal York Road carries a steady stream of connecting buses north and south, linking the subway to the Kingsway and the residential streets further from the Bloor corridor. The area above ground mixes mid-rise apartment towers with the low-rise Kingsway village further west, giving the station a more residential feel than the stretch of Bloor closer to downtown. Reroute plans through it as part of the western end of Line 2, weighing it against Old Mill and Islington for anyone headed into Etobicoke.
