Main Street station marks the point where Line 2 Bloor-Danforth crosses Main Street, between Woodbine and Victoria Park, in a low-key residential slice of the east end known locally as Main Square. It doesn't anchor a shopping strip or a landmark the way its downtown counterparts do; most of the traffic through here is neighbourhood commuters connecting to bus routes that run north and south along Main Street. The platform sits below grade with a single, unfussy concourse, typical of the stations built along this eastern stretch of the line decades ago. For a trip that starts or ends in this pocket of the city, Reroute weighs the short walk to Main Street against nearby bus options automatically, rather than defaulting to whichever route happens to be closest to the front door.
