Finch is the northern terminus of Line 1, sitting at Yonge Street and Finch Avenue at the edge of North York, and it doubles as one of the busiest surface transit hubs in the city above ground. Buses converge here from all directions, feeding riders down into the subway for the trip south, which makes Finch function more like a regional gateway than a typical end-of-line stop. The area immediately around the station is dense with mid-rise and high-rise residential towers, a reflection of how much this stretch of Yonge Street has grown over the past couple of decades. Reroute treats Finch as a genuine starting point for trips originating well north of the city, weighing the subway ride south against a longer surface route when the destination doesn't actually require going all the way downtown.
