Chester is a quiet Line 2 stop in Riverdale, sitting between Pape and Broadview without any transfer to worry about. The surrounding blocks are almost entirely residential, mostly the Playter Estates area just north of the Danforth, so ridership here tends to be steadier and lighter than at the commercial stretches further west. There isn't much to route around at Chester beyond the obvious: get on or off Line 2 and walk the rest of the way. That simplicity is part of the appeal for people who live nearby, since the trip into downtown rarely involves more than a single seat on the subway. For shorter hops within Riverdale, a parallel bus or streetcar can sometimes beat waiting on the platform, but for anything headed further along the line, Chester is as direct a start as the neighbourhood offers.
