Bloor-Yonge is where Line 1 and Line 2 cross, and it's the busiest interchange in the entire TTC system by a wide margin. Riders heading north-south on the Yonge-University line transfer here to go east-west on the Bloor-Danforth line, or the reverse, at the intersection of Bloor Street and Yonge Street in the middle of the retail and office core near Yorkville. Because so many trips route through it, congestion at Bloor-Yonge tends to ripple across both lines rather than staying contained to one. Reroute treats it as a hinge point in the network, weighing whether a trip actually needs the transfer here or whether a different combination of routes gets there with less crowding, since the fastest path on a printed map isn't always the fastest one to actually walk through at rush hour.
