Acton is a small community within Halton Hills, roughly midway along GO's Kitchener corridor between Georgetown and Guelph Central. The station serves commuters heading toward Toronto in the morning and Guelph or Kitchener travellers heading the other direction, with weekday trains running from just before 6 a.m. until nearly midnight. Weekend service exists too, though it starts later, around 8:24 a.m., and runs into the early morning hours. Acton's platform is accessible, and like most stations on this stretch of the Kitchener line, it functions primarily as a park-and-ride stop for residents of Halton Hills rather than a walkable transit hub, since the surrounding area is low-density and built around the rail corridor rather than a dense downtown core.
